SCUM MANIFESTO the FILM 13
One final and unanswerable question remains: today’s viewers will not watch SCUM Manifesto in the same technical conditions as forty years ago. The image restoration is controlled by technicians using cathode screens where the “interlaced” signal (every other line is omitted in a two-frame cycle) is displayed in a curved glass screen. But, once the restoration work is achieved, the public will predominantly see the results on flat screens whose brightness and dynamic image rendering are very different. Thus, technological obsolescence is an issue not only to read the video tapes (VCRs tend to disappear), but also to restore them as faithfully as possible to their original appearance. It is up to you, who are reading these lines and watching SCUM Manifesto on individual screens, to com-plete this interpretation work by looking for the most appropriate settings. Enjoy the discovery!
