Born in Boulogne-Billancourt.
1962-66
Lives in New York: attends the Lycée français then studies fine art at the Art Students League; does painting and woodcut printing at Dan Stacy’s studio in Greenwich Village.
1967
Works as an apprentice at the Paris-Arts screenprinting work-shop on the rue Tournefort in the 5th arrondissement. Meets Jack Pesant, his future partner.
May 1968
Initiates the “Atelier populaire” at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris (the Fine Arts School of Paris) with the artist Guy de Rougemont.
1969-1974
Sets up his first screenprint-ing workshop with Jack Pesant in Rougemont’s studio at 22, rue des Quatre-Fils in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. Already specializes in printing works by artists. Prints political posters.
1971-1979
Teaches screenprinting at the École nationale supérieure des Arts décoratifs de Paris (the School of Decorative Arts of Paris).
1972
Buys a Guzzi Falcone 500 motorcycle.
1974
Registers with the Chamber of Trades and opens L’Atelier with Jack Pesant at 36, rue Pernety in the 14th arrondissement.
1980
Moves to 6, rue de l’Abbé-Carton in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. Acquires a semi-automatic press.
1982
Jack Pesant leaves the workshop. L’Atelier begins publishing edi-tions (with Benito, Kiki Picasso, Toffe and Gerbaud, Caro, Loustal, Chaland…).
1989
Branching out of L’Atelier’s editions to include contempo-rary artists (Buraglio, Lucien, Gravis, Viallat…). Acquisition of a three-quarters automatic screen-printing machine with a paper-re-mover and a tunnel dryer.
1991
Buys a BMW K75 RT motorcycle.
1993-2000
Collaboration with the Médicis Gallery: coproduction of books by illustrators.
1994
Founding member of the associ-ation Les Ateliers estampes orig-inales contemporaines which unites printers working in all techniques.
1996
Participation in the Cnap’s (Centre national d’arts plas-tiques/National Center for visual arts) public commission Heureux le visionnaire (Happy is the Visionnary).
1996-1999
Teaches screenprinting at the Estienne School.
1997
First participation at Art Basel.
2000
First participation at the Fiac (International Contemporary Art Fair).
2002
Opens an exhibition space at L’Atelier on the rue de l’Abbé-Carton.
2006
Produces a series of unique works with Monique Frydman for her exhibition La Couleur tis-sée (Woven color) at the Matisse Museum in Cateau-Cambrésis.
2007
Participation in the Cnap’s public commission Hors Commerce (Not for sale).
2008
Receives the title of Maître d’art (Master Artisan) from the French Cultural Ministry. Matthieu Perramant becomes his apprentice.
2008
Named Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters.
2012
Exhibition L’Atelier rue du Bac. Rendez-vous avec les Éditions Éric Seydoux at the Jean Fournier Gallery, Paris, 6th arrondissement.
2013
Éric Seydoux passes away at Blonville-sur-Mer (Calvados).
